Cross-country bike tour

I’m so proud of my dad. After a half day of exploring the logistics of joining him on his cross-country bicycle tour, I realized how darned lucky he is to be traveling on his own terms. Though his trip won’t turn into the never-ending tour, he doesn’t have a strict end date, nor an essential timeframe in which he needs to be back at work. I hope I’m that cool one day.

If it were me, my selfishness (and enjoying the ride) would drive the endeavor. For him, the cross-country bike tour serves a fundraiser. In addition to he and my mom volunteering regularly with their local food pantry near New Orleans, he’s decided to make the ride an effort to raise awareness for hunger and homelessness in local communities.

He’s also really good at posting photos from the road and writing captions. I hope to ride with him soon; unfortunately, I have a timetable.
